Jonathan (Jon) Block is a partner in Maine’s largest law firm Pierce Atwood, LLP. Jon represents and advises clients with Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts tax problems. Jon does a substantial amount of legislative and government relations work in the tax area. He also advises expanding and relocating companies on taking maximum advantage of available tax and economic development incentives.
Jon earned graduate degrees from Boston University School of Law, L.L.M., Taxation (2000), and the University of Maine School of Law, J.D., magna cum laude, and was Executive Editor of the Maine Law Review (1992).

Crosby, Joseph Mr.

Joseph R. Crosby
Joseph R. Crosby is a principal with MultiState Associates, the nation's leading state and local government relations consultants. Joe is involved in all aspects of the firm’s efforts to help clients resolve the challenges they face in the state and local government arena, with a concentration on providing strategic counsel, identifying and deploying political assets, and advancing tax policy objectives.

Prior to joining MultiState in 2011, Joseph spent 11 years with the Council On State Taxation (COST), an association representing 600 of the nation's largest companies on state and local business tax issues. Joseph served COST as chief operating officer & senior director, policy. In addition to his operational responsibilities, Joseph managed all aspects of COST's advocacy program and regularly testified before state legislatures and other state and national policy-making bodies.

McGarrell, Sarah

Sarah McGarrell is an associate in the firm’s Business Practice Group, working with emerging, growth, and closely held companies.

Sarah’s practice focuses on advising startup founders on pre-market corporate governance issues and early stage financing from term sheet through closing. Sarah’s clients include companies across a spectrum of industries, from consumer retail to manufacturing to technology. In addition, Sarah has represented investors through all stages of their investment cycle and advised portfolio companies as in- house counsel at a private equity firm. As a former entrepreneur herself, Sarah brings a unique perspective and understands the challenges facing founders and young companies.

Prior to joining Pierce Atwood, Sarah was an associate with Gennari Aronson, LLP.

Goldberg, Olga

Olga J. Goldberg advises clients in complex state and local tax matters, including transaction planning and tax compliance. She represents clients on tax controversy matters from the administrative level through litigation and appeal or settlement. Olga’s practice covers all types of state and local taxes, including corporate income, business profits, franchise, sales and use, and property tax, with a focus on New England and Texas taxes.

Olga regularly speaks and writes on a wide range of state and local tax matters, and is actively involved in IPT and COST. Prior to joining Pierce Atwood, Olga practiced with the state and local tax groups at Rath, Young and Pignatelli, Eversheds Sutherland (formerly Sutherland Asbill & Brennan), and a boutique state and local tax litigation firm in Austin, Texas.
